Ranchi: Taking cognizance of the gang rape of a Chhattisgarh woman in Palamu, Jharkhand State Legal Service Authority (JHALSA) executive chairman Justice S N Prasad instructed the local district legal service authority (DLSA) to take measures for helping the woman.
Acting on the direction of principal district and sessions judge of Palamu, Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, DLSA secretary Arpit Srivastava met the rape survivor and ensured clothes, slippers, mosquito nets, bedsheets, and food items for her.
He urged the Palamu superintendent of police (SP) to provide adequate security to the woman as she feared attack by the accused.
The survivor had named three persons accusing them of “making forced physical relationship” with her on the night of March 2. The woman is a member of an orchestra troupe from Chhattisgarh and used to frequent Bishrampur for musical shows.
In her statement, the rape survivor said she was given a red colour drink and she began to lose consciousness. When she was in a semi-conscious state, the three culprits made physical relationships with her forcibly.
She identified the culprits as Golu Kumar, Ajay Kumar, and Deewana Kumar. Barring Golu, the other two have been arrested.
The DLSA has also helped the woman file application under the Victim’s Compensation Scheme and is taking steps to ensure quick action.
