J’khand assembly under secy, 2 sons held in JSSC paper leak case
Ranchi: The special investigation team (SIT) formed by govt to probe the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination 2023 question paper leak case arrested Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha under secretary Mohammad Shamim and his two sons in connection with the case on Sunday. The case is also under probe by the enforcement directorate which is yet to register a case.
The exam was held on February 28 by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) through its outsourcing agency.
It was later revealed the question paper of general studies for the exam had been leaked. The JSSC cancelled the paper and lodged an FIR at Namkum police station.
Later, SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha formed a five-member SIT headed by DSP Sanjeev Besra to investigate the case upon directions of chief minister Champai Soren. The SIT carried out several raids and arrested Shamim and his sons. Blank cheques and admit cards of several candidates on WhatsApp were also seized during the raids.
“Several other persons have also been detained and are being questioned in connection with the case,” Sinha said.
The ED said it found WhatsApp chats related to the possession and sharing of admit cards of examinees from the mobile of Binod Singh, a close aide of ex-CM Hemant Soren.
While opposition BJP is demanding a CBI inquiry into the case, its ally, Ajsu-P said it would start a signature campaign from Monday in front of universities and colleges for the same demand and also against the JSSC officials.
