Rain in isolated parts of state likely from Feb 12 till 15: IMD
Ranchi: After parts of western Jharkhand experienced cold wave conditions with night-time mercury dipping between five to six degrees Celsius at night on Thursday, the Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted another turn in the weather from early next week.
The IMD on Friday predicted overcast conditions across the state and light to moderate showers in northern and its adjoining central parts of Jharkhand on February 12.

Likewise, rainfall alert has been issued for Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Latehar, Lohardaga, Giridih, Deoghar, Koderma, Chatra, Palamu and Garhwa on February 13. Light to moderate showers in isolated parts of all the 24 districts are expected to occur on February 14 and 15, the weather office added on Friday.
“Rainfall in the state is likely due to the western disturbances in north India whose activities are expected to intensify over the weekend,” Abhishek Anand, scientist at IMD Ranchi, said.
Notably, clear skies and winds led to plummeting night-time mercuries in most parts of the state.
While the minimum temperature in Ranchi was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius in the early hours of Thursday, Jamshedpur recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius.
Daltonganj recorded 6.7 degrees Celsius while Garhwa recorded 5.2 degrees Celsius, the weather office stated.
