SHIMLA: Two people were killed and two others sustained injuries after their car plunged into a 150-metre gorge, police said on Sunday. The police reported that the driver, identified as Ankush, aged 25, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident.
The police further stated that the victims were immediately transported to the Civil Hospital in Theog by their companions.
However, upon arrival, Ankush and Abhishek, aged 23, were pronounced dead. The other two occupants of the car, Daleep, aged 25, and Lalit, aged 24, sustained injuries and are currently undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.
According to the authorities, all four individuals involved in the accident are residents of the Theog subdivision, specifically from the vicinity of Dharmpur, where the tragic incident took place.
Superintendent of police (SP) Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving.
Investigations are underway, SP Gandhi added.
