Surat: When GSHSEB announced the Class 12 science stream results on Thursday, students from Surat district were on cloud nine — 31.72 % of all A1 grade achievers were from Surat. Of the total 1,034 students who received A1 grade in the state, 328 were from Surat.
In A2 grade, Surat also outperformed other districts with 20.52% or 1,844 of the total 8,983 students getting A2 grade in the district.
In terms of overall results for the science stream, Surat got 85.56% or 13,575 students cleared the exam — a total of 15,866 students had appeared for the science stream exam from Surat.
Surat’s Varachha centre topped with 93.83% students passing the exam, followed by Surat centre (87.84%) and Rander (87.83 %). Kim centre registered the lowest result — 70.78%.
Vishwa Ukani scored 650 out of total 700 marks and wants to become a cardiologist. “I stressed on revision after taking lessons at school. I solved many papers and took many mock tests. Now, I am awaiting my NEET results. I want to pursue MBBS and become a cardiologist,” said Vishwa whose father is a diamond worker.
Pal Jalodara wants to become an IT engineer. Pal got 621 out of 650 marks. “I want to pursue computer science from DA-IICT. I always read for four hours after the school hours,” he says.
Pal’s father Vipul Jalodara said: “I cleared Class 12 science exam in 2003 and wanted to pursue studies further. However, my financial condition did not allow me and I had to come to Surat and join the diamond industry.”
