Man who stole 20 Boleros nabbed from Telangana
Surat: The crime branch of Surat city police has nabbed notorious criminal Ramesh Bishnoi from Telangana and brought him to the city. Bishnoi was wanted in the theft of 20 Bolero SUVs and also in a shoot-out with Ahmedabad crime branch.
The crime branch came to know that Bishnoi was hiding in Khammam town of Telangana. He had started a furniture shop in the town where many families from Rajasthan live.
On reaching there, a member of the police team posed as a customer at the furniture shop to verify if Bishnoi owned it.
When it was confirmed, other members of the team waiting outside the shop raided it and nabbed Bishnoi. He was nabbed on Thursday and brought to Surat on Friday.
Bishnoi, who hails from Jalore in Rajasthan, would steal only Bolero SUVs. He stole five Boleros from Ahmedabad, three from Gandhinagar and 12 from Surat — all between 2015 and 2018.
Offences against him were registered at Adalaj, Rakhiyal, Odhav, Nikol, Limbayat, Puna, Kapodra, Udhna, Khatodara, Katargam and Pandesara police stations.
In 2018, he was involved in a shoot-out with Ahmedabad crime branch near Adalaj check-post. The police team had got a tip-off that some members of the Bishnoi gang would pass by that road in a Scorpio SUV.
When the SUV reached the check-post, its driver tried to run over the police officers. The crime branch team chased the gang for a few kilometres before the gang members abandoned the SUV at a farm near Mehsana water park and tried to escape in the cover of darkness.
While trying to escape, the gang members fired on the the police team. Police retuned the fire and nabbed gang members Rugnath Bishnoi, Narayan Bishnoi and Naresh Bishnoi. Ramesh Bishnoi managed to flee.
