In general stream, Surat pupils pip all in A1 grade
Surat: Students from Surat district once again cleared the Class 12 exam with flying colours as the GSHSEB declared the results on Thursday. In the general stream, 1,703 students got A1 grade which is 30.84% of the total 5,522 A1 grades across Gujarat.
In terms of the result percentage, 93.38% students passed the exam in Surat district. Of the 42,258 students who had appeared for the exam, 39,460 students cleared it.
Surat students also topped in getting A2 grade with 16.82% of all A2 grade achievers being from the district.
Of the total 42,799 students who received A2 grade in the state, 7,205 are from Surat.
In Surat district, Sarbhon centre got the highest 99.08% result followed by Vankal (98.96%), and Mangrol (98.79%). Kim centre got the lowest result of 83.80%.
Devanshi Patidar of Ashadip-4 school scored 97% as she got 679 out of 700 marks. She got 100 marks each in statistics, SP and BA. She gives credit for her success to the school and the teachers. “I followed my teachers’ instructions. Most of the preparation was done at school. I always gave my 100%. I want to pursue IT field by getting an admission in BSc IT or BCA,” she said.
One of the toppers from the city is Himanshu Bodar, who got 667 out of 700 marks. He secured 100 marks each in economics, BA and SP. His father prepares food for diamond workers and sells it in Katargam area.

“I want to become a chartered accountant (CA) and start my own practice. My father makes dal-rice for diamond workers and sells 150 tiffins daily to diamond workers.
I want to ease his struggle and want live in our own house from the present rented house,” says Himanshu.
