Search on for man who took ₹20 lakh offering Polish visa
Thiruvananthapuram: Medical College police have intensified their search for a man accused of cheating several people of lakhs of rupees offering Polish work visas.
A case was registered on Wednesday based on the complaints against Kumarapuram native Rajesh V under IPC Sections 120-B for criminal conspiracy, 468 for forgery for the purpose of cheating, and 420 for cheating.

As per the complaints, the accused collected more than Rs 20 lakh from six persons offering work visas.
“I paid Rs 8 lakh for the visa in Feb last year. Months passed by but the accused could not offer a visa or the money back. He kept on giving excuses whenever he was asked to return the money. A few weeks ago, his mobile phone was found switched off and my attempts to contact him failed. I approached the police then,” said Dani Thomas, a complainant.
He said more people would approach police with complaints in the coming days.
Frauds offering visas abroad have been on the rise in the district. On Tuesday, Kazhakkoottam police registered a case against a firm for cheating a Kadinamkulam-based woman of Rs 10 lakh, offering a Polish work visa.
In Dec 2023, Fort police had issued a lookout notice against a Karnataka-based man for cheating 34 students of Rs 44 lakh offering job visas in European countries.
“The investigation into the cases has been progressing and the accused will be nabbed. In all the cases, the accused were not authorized to offer such visas and the people were cheated by showing some forged documents,” police said.
