GANDHINAGAR: The first session of the newly elected 15th
Gujarat legislative assembly will be held on December 19.
According to official sources, a pro-tem speaker will be appointed on December 19, who will administer the oath to the 182 elected MLAs. Governor Acharya Devvrat will address the house during the two-day session.
The new speaker of the assembly will also be elected from among the ruling party MLAs during the two-day session of the assembly.
The names of three senior leaders of the
BJP are being discussed as likely candidates for the post of speaker. The BJP won a record 156 of the 182 seats this election.
