Cardi B wows at Met Gala 2024 in sweeping black number; rapper needed nine men to carry gown

Cardi B's Met Gala 2024 outfit was so iconic that it took her stylist, Kollin Carter, and nine other men to carry the sweeping number up the green carpet.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the WAP singer collaborated with Chinese designer Windowsen for a custom outfit that took two months to create. The 31-year-old added to her style with stunning giant emerald jewellery and matching green nails.
Earlier in the evening, Cardi B hinted at her attire for this year’s Met Gala event on her Instagram by posting a photo of a black rose.
“We’re always thinking ahead,” Cardi told The Hollywood Reporter in March, adding, “I feel like the Met Gala is almost like going to the Grammys. It's very nerve-racking, and even though we make it look so easy, we really be so nervous.”
Despite feeling nervous, the rapper explained that she and her team approached the event with only one strategy - to be iconic. "We want everything to be iconic," she said to the portal and added, "you need to remember us forever."
This year, the Met Gala theme 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' embraces 'The Garden of Time' as its official dress code, drawing inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art will unveil its Costume Institute’s exhibit to the public on Friday, May 10. Curated by Andrew Bolton, the show will showcase delicate pieces from the museum’s archives, some of which are too fragile to be displayed or worn on regular days.
