Actress Jayati Bhatia played the role of Phatto, the maid of Manisha Koirala’s character in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar’. The well-known TV serial actress was not sure about her placement in the show, but actor-producer Jeetendra motivated her to pull off the character.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Jayati talked about the reception her character received.
She mentioned that it was unexpected to begin with. The teasers didn't have a lot of her glimpses, so she was unsure about her placement in the show. While shooting the scenes, she knew that it was a prominent character. But it all depends on the post-production stage.
The actress further added that her fans and family were excited to watch her performance in the show, but after the teaser, she became a bit apprehensive. She was so relieved when she saw the first two episodes where Phatto was visible.
'I had my reservations about love-making scenes': Manisha Koirala opens up about her 'bad experiences' with on-screen intimacy
She shared how the faith she had in Jeetendra's words was re-installed after watching the episode. It was around 28 years ago; the actress was working with Jeetendra in Ekta Kapoor's show ‘Ittehas’. Jeetendra then reviewed her performance by saying, 'Ishq, Mushq aur Talent, chupaye nahi chupta' (Love, fragrance, and talent can't hide forever). These words popped up into her mind as she received a lot of love and appreciation for her role in ‘Heeramandi’.
She was not expecting much feedback as she could not find her character in the teaser. The responses are quite a blessing and a pleasant surprise for her. She further added that her co-stars from the TV industry liked and tagged her in some of their favorite scenes. Jayati is grateful to work with the legendary Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Earlier, Jayati talked about sharing the screen with Manisha Koirala. The actress mentioned that she has been at the forefront even though they are contemporaries. She talked about her admiration for Manisha and how she has been inspired by her.
