Producer G. Dhananjayan recently revealed an experience with the producer of the latest Malayalam hit, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham.’ Intrigued by the film's potential to connect with Tamil audiences, Dhananjayan approached the ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ producer and the discussions took an unexpected turn.
The ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’s producer proposed a significantly high price of Rs 15 crore for the rights, citing the success of ‘Manjummel Boys’ as a benchmark.
Dhananjayan, taken aback by the figure, sought clarification, only to confirm the staggering asking price.

Talking to Whistle media, while acknowledging the success of ‘Manjummel Boys,’ Dhananjayan revealed his skepticism regarding the feasibility of replicating such extraordinary earnings for every Malayalam film in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that ‘Manjummel Boys’s unique magical performance shouldn’t be a factor in setting unrealistic expectations for other Malayalam films.
Starring Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal in the lead, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ hit the big screens on April 11. Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ revolves around the life of two youngsters who leave Kerala to pursue their dream of becoming big in South Indian cinema. The movie received good reviews from the audiences, even though some criticisms regarding the slow-paced narrative in the first half which was further elevated by Nivin Pauly’s performance in the second half.
