Are there SOPs to help foreign tourists: High court to Jharkhand government

RANCHI: Jharkhand high court on Thursday asked govt whether it has any standard operating procedures (SOP) in place on assistance to foreign tourists coming to the state.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Navneet Kumar was hearing a PIL after a foreign tourist of Spanish origin was raped by seven men in Dumka on March 1.

Court has sought a detailed affidavit from Dumka police, explaining investigation done in the case so far. The judges asked govt counsel whether there is a plan to aid and assist foreign tourists in the state and inquired about the formalities to be completed for inspection of tourists on their arrival.
Court also asked govt to enumerate steps being taken to curb crime graph against women. The case will be taken up for hearing on March 13.
