In December 2022, when his car overturned in Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant landed in hospital “swollen like a log of wood submerged in water for days” and with a smashed right knee, besides other fractures and injuries. The wide grin was a surprise. Comforting, but not what I had expected when I walked into the porch of a cricket superstar who no one quite knew if they would see on the field again.
And yet there it was, like nothing had happened, as a beaming Rishabh Pant trudged in on his walker. He settled on the recliner placed in the garden of his Vasant Kunj house for our chat, moving ponderously, as his stitches and bruises would allow. But his mood seemed to carry his muscles along.
