Akshaya Tritiya 2024: Akshaya Tiritya is one of the most famous Hindu festival, which is celebrated on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. This year, the festival is being celebrated today i.e., on May 10, 2024. On this auspicious day, people are advised to worship Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Parshuram Jayanti is also celebrated by all the Lord Vishnu followers on the same day.


Akshaya Tritiya hold a great religious significance among Hindus. This day is considered as one of the most sacred day to perform various religious and spiritual activities. As the name suggests that Akshaya in sanskrit word signifies eternal which means boundless fortune and prosperity associated with this day and Tritiya means it falls on the third day of Shukla Paksha in Vaishakha Month. It is believed that the things you buy or do will remain forever with your. Puja that you perform on this day, will never diminishes.
This day is an auspicious for new beginnings, starting a new business, joining a new job, relocating to a new house. This day is celebrated to honour Goddess Laxmi, Lord Vishnu and Lord Ganesha. Buying gold, silver, jewellery and other auspicious items is a Hindu tradition which brings prosperity and good fortune to the people. It is considered highly auspicious for starting new ventures, marriages, investments, and purchasing gold or other precious items.
Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting puja. They clean their house and decorate their home with rangoli and flowers. They place an idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi and light a diya in front of the idols and perform puja. People prepare special food and sweets and perform various rituals to the deities. They visit temple to seek blessings of the Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Performing charitable activities like giving alms to the needy is also considered rewarding.
