'RCB off the ventilator but still in ICU': Ajay Jadeja on Royal Challengers Bengaluru's turnaround in IPL 2024

According to Ajay Jadeja, RCB's bowling unit is gelling, giving hope despite a tenuous tournament position. RCB's bowlers paved the way for victory over Gujarat Titans, but a late collapse raised concerns. Jadeja likened RCB's situation to being off the ventilator but still in the ICU. Momentum and mentality, especially in crunch time, are crucial for success.

NEW DELHI: According to former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowling unit has begun to perform cohesively, providing a lifeline to the team.
However, he cautioned that RCB, despite their recent victory over Gujarat Titans, remain in a precarious position in the tournament.

In the match against GT, RCB's bowlers set the stage for a successful chase of a modest 148-run target.
The opening pair of Faf du Plessis (64) and Virat Kohli (42) laid a solid foundation with a 92-run partnership within the powerplay.

However, a sudden collapse saw RCB lose six wickets for just 25 runs, giving Gujarat a glimmer of hope for an unlikely comeback.
"The chinks in the armour are visible, what happened at the end. But the chance is there. They're off the ventilator but they're still in the ICU," Jadeja told Jio Cinema.
Jadeja emphasized the importance of the bowling department's performance, an area where RCB has traditionally struggled. He believes that the team's momentum at this crucial juncture of the season could play a significant role in their chances of success.

"More than momentum, it's about the mentality of the team where you know if you're in a bad situation, someone will take you out of it... Today, it seemed like RCB picked the right road while Gujarat was on the other side. Who will reach their goal? It's a very tough ask still," he said.
Jadeja, however, commended RCB's aggressive batting approach in the small chase, praising Faf du Plessis' exceptional performance.

"They came into the game differently from the start. I haven't checked the statistics, but I have never seen them start a game with a six. Not one, but two of them, in the first over, when there was no need," he said.
