NEW DELHI: Jarred Gillett, the referee for the upcoming Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester United on Monday, will don a head-mounted camera during the match at Selhurst Park.
The device, dubbed "RefCam," will be seamlessly integrated into the referee's standard communications system, providing a unique perspective on the challenges faced by match officials.
The Premier League has clarified that the head-mounted camera technology will be utilized on a one-time basis, specifically for the purpose of capturing footage for a short program that aims to showcase the intricacies of refereeing in the league.
The video captured by the "RefCam" will not be aired live during the match.
"Fans will be able to view it later in the year as part of a program ... aimed at offering further insight and education into the demands of officiating in the Premier League," the competition said.
The upcoming program featuring the "RefCam" footage is expected to provide fans with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the crucial role played by match officials in the Premier League.
