NEW YORK: Now that Nick Kyrgios cares about tennis, the Aussie is feeling the loss ostensibly.
Kyrgios, who came out flat against Karen Khachanov in the US Open quarterfinals, falling in five sets, used words like 'devastating' and 'heartbreaking' to describe how he felt. "All credit to Karen. He's a fighter, a warrior," Kyrgios said. "He served really good, probably the best server I have played this tournament."
The 27-year-old took no satisfaction from making the last-eight."It's either winning it all or nothing at all," he said. "I feel like I've just failed at this event right now."
Kyrgios, who had the trainer on court, dismissed the niggle, saying his knee felt better as the match progressed. "Every other tournament during the year is a waste of time. You should just run up and show up at a Grand Slam. That's what you're remembered by," he said. "I have to wait till the Australian Open."
