After her stint on a reality show, Falaq Naaz waited for a project that offered her a compelling role and also allowed her to break away from mythological and historical genres. Her nine-month wait ended with Pandya Store. The actress, who has been part of shows like Sasural Simar Ka, RadhaKrishn and Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush, says, “I didn’t like the offers that came my way after Bigg Boss OTT.
Besides, I wanted to avoid mythological and historical genres as I felt typecast. All this while, I was either offered mythological shows or roles where I played a mother to grown-up actors. While I have no qualms about portraying a mother, the character has to be strong.”
The actress has replaced Piyali Munsi to play the new Hetal in the family drama. Did she have any apprehensions about stepping into someone else’s shoes and joining a long-running show midway? “There is no interference from the original character since its graph has changed. Stepping into the shoes isn’t challenging because the shoe size is different (smiles). Joining an existing show also offers a safety net when daily soaps are ending prematurely,” she replies.

Falaq has also been in the news for her relationship with Avinash Sachdev, her co-participant from Bigg Boss OTT 2. Speculations were rife about them parting ways after they unfollowed and followed each other back on Instagram. Refusing to divulge details regarding the current status of their relationship, she says, “Time holds the answer to everything. We are taking our time to understand where we are headed.”
